Online Auction and Its Development
Tuesday, February 9, 2010 3:32Auction is a tradition of dealing and selling of items and services. With this, there is a deal between the buyer and seller regarding the price of a certain item. However, this process was not a common and widespread tradition until the development of the Web.
The start of bidding processes was believed to take effect during 500 BC. But, during this time, the most common form of selling items is through the typical process that we are well-aware of. Also, during this period, women were the ones that are commonly auctioned. No woman can be sold unless through auction procedures.
As time passed by, auction processes has developed and different items are being sold in prices that are favorable on the part of the buyer. Also, the most common items that were sold in auctions long time ago were those creations with high value and prestige like sculptures, paintings, and other valuable materials.
As the age of modern technology came to being, online auction emerges and gives a new impression towards bidding and online bid. As matter of fact, eBay (an auction site) had 575.4 million items for sale between the period of January and March 2006. This fact alone shows the popularity and demand of bidding over the Web.
Even if auctions are not quite popular during the early days and with its real-time counterpart, the increasing popularity and demand of online auctions proves the interest of people towards this process. Also, more and more people are seeing the benefits of auctions.
