Children’s books are usually written so as to entertain the children or teach them moral lessons or in some cases to help them learn how to read and write.

With a wide range of these books out there in the market, it has become a hustle deciding what book is relevant to your children.

Before buying your child any book, consider his or her age. Most of the writers have categorized their books according to the age group they are targeting as their audience. Thus in most cases, books for children under the age of 7 years, have simple English which the children will understand as compared to books for those   above the age of 8 years, which might need a bit of  explanation. Nevertheless, it is also good to buy your children books that are beyond their capability. This increases their urge to read more and learn other vocabularies that are there.

It is also important to check the book’s content. Many books for children contain pictures and their captions, which usually explain what is happening in the picture. This will help the children be able to differentiate things, and also know what is beautiful and what is ugly.

The story content is also important. Check whether the stories have any importance to your children. That is, check for moral lessons in the story. Usually, children are known to be imitators of what they see, or hear. Thus if the book is talking about being a good Samaritan, you can be sure that in future your children will emulate this example.
