The neighborhood I live in is a small and quiet one. Most of the people are elderly, small children and retired persons who enjoy the slow pace of life. One unfortunate day, a short circuit resulted in a fire breakout which soon spread to other houses. The fire soon took massive proportions. The worst part was that that children and old people were caught in it. People who were walking on the streets immediately called the fire brigade and ambulance. Meanwhile some brave people made their way through all the fire and smoke in order to rescue the people trapped inside their homes. By the time the fire brigade came, they had managed to rescue a good number of people. I was one of them. Then the fire brigade men took over and set out extinguishing the fire and rescuing more people. The fire was extinguished soon afterwards. The damage was much but thankfully no lives were lost. After some months when we had rehabilitated ourselves, I called a meeting of the people in our locality. I proposed to them that we give all the brave and quick thinking common people and fire brigade personnel an award to express our gratitude towards them.
